Pre-Fold To Fitted

Making a fitted diaper from a pre-fold is a novel idea!  It's a very
economical and easy way to make fitted diapers. Many thanks to
Kimi of
New Conceptions for the pictures and instructions.
Kimi is the designer of the PooPocket! diaper pattern.

Enjoy and Good Luck!!!

Make template

Fold diaper in half. Lay template in place. Cut.

Cut off back seam

Trace wing and leg curve onto cut-away pieces

Cut along tracings.  This shapes the pad and creates the wing tab.

Round the tab edges

Here are all the diaper pieces

Sandwich the back wings between the tab pieces,
dividing the fabric layers evenly (usually by twos).

Stitch across the straight edge.

See how the seam allowance is encased within
 the diaper?  No raw edges.

Gently separate the layers of the back edge,
pulling the pad stitching out for about ¾”. This is
where the back waist elastic will go

The leg elastic goes here

The back elastic should start and end about even
with the straight sides.

The leg elastic should start about 1” beyond the
straight sides in the back and end about 2-3” from
the front edge.  Place the elastic between the
diaper layers and back tack one end down.

Continue stitching “blind”, stretching the elastic as
you go. Back tack the other end to secure.

The elastic is in.

Serge the edges starting from one front  corner
and ending at the other one.

Put fasteners on as you wish
